Instruction methods/tools/resources may include and shall not be limited to: reference materials (atlas, dictionaries, globe, maps, encyclopedias, non-fiction books, videos, the internet), workbooks, worksheets, hands-on activities, experiments, science lab, projects, newspapers, magazines, frequent field trips, group activities, classic/contemporary literature, research, journal/narrative/essay/poetry writing, games, creative thinking, predicting/forecasting, gathering facts, written peer correspondence (pen pals), music CDs, CD ROMs, piano keyboard, abundant art supplies (clay, paint, crayons, pencils, sketchpads, felt, chalk, charcoal, pastels, etc.), structured group dance classes and competitions, free play, conversations, and real life.
Primary instruction to _____ will be provided by ________________, her parents. Supplemental instruction will be provided by others, as necessary.

Hi, I was just wondering what is different about what is required for the 7th and 8th grade IHIP? I read in another post of yours that it is a little different. (Also I have been reading on another message board as you had recommended and that has been helpful)
The differences aren't much - most of us don't even change what we normally do as it still covers all the requirements for all grades. It's just the reporting that is worded differently.
The regulations state:
Grades 1 to 6: arithmetic, reading, spelling, writing, the English language, geography, United States history, science, health education, music, visual arts, physical education, bilingual education and/or English as a second language where the need is indicated.
Grades 7 & 8: English (two units); history and geography (two units); science (two units); mathematics (two units); physical education (on a regular basis); health education (on a regular basis); art (one-half unit); music (one-half unit); practical arts (on a regular basis) and library skills (on a regular basis). The units required herein are cumulative requirements for both grades seven and eight.
Is this IHIP limited to middle school? Can I use this for a 9th grade IHIP? This blog has been helpful. Thanks!

I won't be creating a high school IHIP for 2 years yet. I won't veer from this format too much, though. Look at the regs for the exact subject titles and what is required when (some things are only half a year and you will need to create more electives in the upper years). The Worldbook course of study goes up to 12th grade so you can use their main subject lists up to then.
